April’s Living Bucket List

April’s Living Bucket List: Here are my ideas for Living and Loving April in Extra-ordinary Moments, along with little reminders to enjoy this one moment today. It is time for renewal and spring rebirth. Let the fresh spring breeze clean out the cobwebs inside and outside of you and your home. Take a moment to dream about gardens, porch afternoons, and walks through budding trees.

  1. Start with purchasing new sidewalk chalk and draw on the sidewalk – ideas – inspirational sayings, hopscotch (make sure you “hop”), draw daisies, or try these new ideas with yourself/children/dogs.
  2. Purchase a pretty refillable water bottle to cut down on purchasing plastic bottled water. If you purchase bottled water, please recycle it (be sure to purchase products made from it). This will save you money. Check out this site for savings: https://20somethingfinance.com/bottled-water-versus-tap-water/. Having something beautiful to keep with you may inspire you to drink more water throughout the day.
  3. Purchase a new item to take your exercise routine outside. Ideas include lightweight walking sandals, a basket for your bike (riding your bike for errands counts as exercise), a sun hat to protect your face and hair while hiking, or an outdoor yoga mat.
  4. Dye Easter eggs—go online and research food coloring recipes. Or come up with unique ways to decorate for Easter.
  5. Plant cool season herbs, vegetables, and flowers, such as annual herbs parsley, cilantro, kale, spinach, lettuce, radishes, peas, potatoes, fragrant annual sweet peas, calendula,    https://www.seedsavers.org/cool-season-crops. Weed and edge flower beds & landscaping
  6. Check out Porch and Patio Styles on Pinterest.
  7. Create or refresh an outdoor space, outdoor yoga workout, party cart, bonfire pit, and nap/reading space—plan for spring plantings and items to purchase.
  8. Spring clean and reorganize one of the following – flip mattress, clean drapes and hang outside to dry, dust off kitchen cabinet shelves, clean linen closet, and put in new cedar sachets. If nothing else, open the windows and get spring air flowing through the house.
  9. As you are spring cleaning, make a pile of old sheets, blankets, and bath towels. Give them to local homeless shelters or pet rescues. They are constantly needing these items.
  10. Make a new wreath for your front door.
  11. Purchase a new floral dress, lightweight wrap, straw purse, and dressy sandals.
  12. Opening day of baseball – learn a few baseball terms and pick a local team to follow (a local peewee league, high school, minor league, major league)
  13. Make a nesting box for the birds and set up feeders for migrating birds.
  14. Roam around your backyard and take pictures of spring. Share them with others who cannot get out or live in a cooler climate.
  15. Look for rainbows and set a new goal to finish by Memorial Day Weekend
  16. Find a spring poem for inspiration and memorize it
  17. Check out banking fees and programs. Sign up for one that will help you save money and grow wealth
  18. Sit on the porch with a special drink, maybe a spring detox or white tea.
  19. Cut a spring flower and create a flower arrangement.
  20. Here are some free gardens to explore virtually – Southern Botanical Gardens You Can Virtually Tour, 8 Beautiful Virtual Garden Tours To Enjoy While In Isolation, Take a Virtual Stroll Through Some of the Nation’s Best Botanical Gardens
  21. Have a radish taste test. Check out the many varieties with levels of spiciness. Make a radish sandwich or taco pickles, or add some to your favorite potato salad recipe.
  22. Collect and paint rocks to leave on your walks and for neighbors
  23. Watch or read “A Secret Garden” for garden inspiration
  24. Organize your garden tools and the porch party items (have them close at hand for impromptu gatherings)
  25. Dance, walk, splash in the rain – purchase a beautiful umbrella, raincoat, mud boots
  26. Start identifying birds in your backyard. Learn their songs here – https://www.audubon.org/search_results?search=bird%20sounds
  27. Make a twig trellis from landscape shrub prunings, a copper trellis, or use bamboo poles to make a teepee. Plant morning glories, scarlet runner beans, or clematis.
  28.  Here are some apps to help you with your gardening (Gardenista.com)
  29. Make a spring dessert – key lime pie, rhubarb pie, or strawberry shortcake
  30. Spring clean your desk, computer/electronics, pantry, hall closet, and wardrobe. Switch to non-toxic cleaning supplies.
