September’s 30 Ways for Loving the Ordinary List

September's 30 Ways of Loving

30 Ways for Loving the Ordinary Each and Every Day

Every month, I create a list of ways for Loving the Ordinary each and every day. That is to say, it is a list to help enjoy life by Carefully Curating the days with home, garden, and life. Taking time to enjoy the moment alone or with someone special. I’ve expanded on some of these ideas to inspire you further. Here are September’s 30 Ways for Loving the Ordinary.

Fall is a Time to Pause and Live in the Moment.

September's Loving

September’s Loving the Ordinary List is Full of Ideas to Enjoy the Season’s Change

  • Football Season is here; in short, pick a team, learn a few facts, tailgate, and cheer loudly.
  • Harvest and dry herbs to use this winter
  • Order spring flowering bulbs for fall planting
  • Explore when and where Fall Festivals will be and attend one
  • Prepare your family room for fall; for example, pull out the warm blankets, get pillows/poufs for the floor, and get wood for the fireplace
  • September 6th is National Read a Book Day. Why not use your library card and read a new genre?
  • Go to the nursery and purchase mums, grasses, and other fall plants; then, create a fall container.
  • Start gathering colored leaves for pressing, leaf rubbings, and crafts. In addition, here is one of my blogs with pressed leaf card ideas.
  • Take a walk through the fallen leaves; during your walk, listen to the crunch of them.
  • Visit an orchard and pick a variety of types of apples.
  • Make apple butter, apple pie, or have an apple-tasting contest.
  • September 12th is National Hug Your Hound Day; one idea is to volunteer at an animal shelter. Similarly, pets there need hugs, too.
  • Stuff a scarecrow for the porch or front yard
  • September 14th is National Live Creative Day – explore whatever form of art calls you to create
  • Learn to knit or crochet. Make fingerless gloves or a scarf for the fall season
  • Take a walk, jog, or bike ride on a crisp fall morning.
  • Take out the board games to enjoy when the nights turn cold
  • DIY a front door fall wreath
  • Explore the woods, parks, or botanical gardens to enjoy the season’s colors.
  • Help a neighbor rake their leaves
  • Rake up the leaves at your home; after that, jump in the pile.
  • Celebrate the Autumn Equinox on September 22nd in your own way
  • Make leaf-shaped sugar or shortbread cookies
  • Have a chili cook-off with your friends or officemates.
  • Place a warm blanket, scarf and/or sweater by the door to enjoy a brisk evening sitting on the porch
  • Stroll through your local small businesses searching for your perfect fall-scented candle.
  • September 27th is National Scarf Day; learn to tie a scarf in a new way, DIY one, or find one at a Fall Festival
  • Prepare your bedroom for cooler weather; for example, pull out the flannel sheets and down comforters.
  • Host a bonfire and roast marshmallows
  • In addition, it’s September 30th, so treat yourself. It’s National Hot Mulled Cider Day

Please find one or two ideas to love the ordinary in September.

I hope September finds you enjoying a moment in the sun, enjoying your home, your garden, and your community. “Community” I use that word as a reference to all those people in our lives. That is to say a word for our family, those we consider family, friends, neighbors, and those we nod and say ‘hello’ to as we take our morning walks. If you enjoy these monthly lists, please share September’s 30 Ways for Loving the Ordinary with others. September Blessings to You, Bobbi
