How-to reflect on your goals and dreams in three steps

A simple rhythm for revisiting what matters — anytime you need clarity

Reflect on Goals and Dreams

There are moments when we feel the quiet nudge to pause and ask ourselves a simple but important question: How am I really doing with the life I’m creating?

Reflecting on goals and dreams isn’t something reserved for the end of a year or the beginning of a new one. It’s a practice we can return to whenever life feels full, uncertain, or in need of adjustment.

Whether you’re revisiting long-held dreams, reassessing goals you set earlier, or simply sensing that something needs realignment, this reflection offers a grounded place to begin. Below are three simple steps to help you revisit what you hoped for — and decide what belongs in this season of your life.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on the goals and dreams you set for yourself — whether recently or long ago.

Firstly, envision, reflect, and revisit what these goals/dreams were at the beginning of your intention.

  • What goals/dreams were achieved?
  • Is the reason for the goal/dream still relevant?
  • What just plain outright did not work?

Secondly, consider these questions.

  • Can you still see yourself achieving them? Should you take them into the new year or season of life?
  • Do you need to extend a time frame?
  • What new next step or sidestep has shown itself?
  • Can you ask for help? Or find a class?

Lastly, go to the *** note and consider if you should take it off the list.

***Now before you go any further down this path.

*** You should take a look at your list and see if any items just need to be gone. If they do cross them off, delete them or write in red “this was not for me!” Often, we add things we think we should be doing or are pressured to do. If that is the case, take it off. Maybe you thought you wanted this goal and now are not so sure about it. Take-It-Off-the-List!!!

This is an action we need to do a little more of, I believe. If something does not call to us, serve us, lights a fire in us or gives us butterflies (even the little-bit-scary ones) it should not stay on our list. It can come back on the list if it does one of those things. But we do not need them on our list if they are only adding stress or negative emotions.

Start with Loving the Ordinary

Before making changes or setting new goals, begin by noticing what already holds meaning in your life. The Loving the Ordinary List is a simple reflection guide designed to help you slow down, pay attention, and reconnect with the moments and rhythms that quietly shape your days. Often, clarity doesn’t come from doing more — it comes from seeing what’s already there.

Finally, after you’ve reflected on your goals and dreams, here is a reminder.

Finally, after you’ve reflected on your goals and dreams, remember this: this is your one beautiful, ordinary life. You’re allowed to shape it thoughtfully — with intention, curiosity, and care.

Dreams and goals don’t need to arrive as heavy resolutions or sweeping reinventions. Sometimes they begin as a quiet desire for more presence, better rhythms, a renewed sense of home, or space to explore what lights you up.

Ready to Go Deeper?

If you’re ready to go deeper, this reflection is the foundation of the work we do inside Live Your Best Curated Life — a live masterclass experience designed to help you clarify what matters, release what no longer fits, and build a life that aligns with who you are today.
